Homosexual characters and gay rumours

"Twilight actor Robert Pattison, is playing surrealist artist Salvador Dali in a upcoming film called Little Ashes. The film which was shot before Twilight came out, looks at the painter's early life and specifically the period in the early 1920s when he was involved with the poet Federico García Lorca.Dali himself denied the pair had a sexual relationship, saying, "[Lorca] was homosexual, as everyone knows, and madly in love with me...I was extremely annoyed, because I wasn’t homosexual, and I wasn’t interested in giving in." However, the film doesn't buy this and portrays the men as lovers."In the film there’s all these gay sex scenes. And y’know, I haven’t even done a sex scene with a girl, in my whole career. And here I am, with Javier [Beltrán], who plays Lorca, doing an extremely hard-core sex scene, where I have a nervous breakdown afterward. And because we’re both straight, what we were doing seemed kind of ridiculous.” Source: gayteens.about.com

"As such, the movie has been applauded for taking homosexual love seriously: Brokeback Mountain does not relegate the love of gay characters to the margins of a film but rather argues that their love is a subject appropriate for a grand narrative. Certainly a movie that will carve into our collective minds the thought that love between two men can be as painful and meaningful as that between a man and a woman is sorely needed. However, we should be attentive to the characters to which the cinema has privileged this story line: two men who in all appearances are, essentially, straight. Brokeback Mountain may have managed to get audiences to fall in love with the romance of Jack and Ennis, but it does so by cleansing the lovers of any characteristics that would signify, in our Western society, that they are gay". Source: www.oxonianreview.org

"His movie-industry parents put things on hold for school and university, but he re-emerged in 2001 and played a run of
sensitive, complicated loners in Donnie Darko (2001), Lovely & Amazing (2001) and The Good Girl (2002). These last two characters were involved with an older woman, which gave him an earnest toy-boy allure. Now, he's a gay icon - he made the cover of the serious-minded gay monthly The Advocate for both recent films. If his allure can be attributed to lovelorn idealism in Brokeback, it's partly about being eye-candy in Jarhead. And military barracks, even in a film with political points to make, are not a million miles from a standard gay-porn set-up."I'm cool about it," Gyllenhaal says. "I'm not into guys sexually, as far as I know. But my parents were very accepting. I had gay babysitters". Source: www.smh.com.au

"Sacha Baron Cohen found out that blonds don’t have more fun – after a body hair bleaching experience went awry! According to Britain’s The Sun, the actor, who is known to go the extra mile for his over-the-top characters, attempted to bleach all his body hair for the upcoming mockumentary “Bruno” movie, where he plays a gay Austrian fashionista.
“Sacha is committed to as much realism as he can muster in his films. He’d heard that all-over hairlessness is a popular trend in the gay community, so he thought he’d bleach all his hair so it looked invisible”. Source: www.accesshollywood.com
In the clip, he says, “I’m like the Austrian Zac Efron. Except I’m two years younger, and I’ve got a bleached oshtenhalla.”

"Brüno is a “homosexual character claiming to be a reporter from an Austrian television station and interviews unsuspecting guests about topics such as fashion, entertainment, celebrities and homosexuality, with an emphasis on the latter as each interview progresses.” Source: en.wikipedia.org

Macauly Culkin and Jake Gyllenhaal at 22nd Anniversay Party for Club Lotus, 2002.

"It's amazing how somebody's alledged gayness disappears with a letter from a lawyer.

Mr. Culkin has never met Mr. Brunner and certainly has no relationship with him romantically or otherwise. Your site maintains that Mr. Culkin is gay, and as he heretofore publicly stated, he is not". Source: socialitelife.celebuzz.com
Justin Timberlake and Jake Gyllenhaal at 2006 MTV awards.

"Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake are still going strong, two sources tell Usmagazine.com.
"They have not split," the first pal tells Us of the couple, who went on a getaway to Vail, Colorado earlier this month.

Rumors spread they called it quits after it was reported Timberlake "was very much acting like a single guy" at Kate Hudson's 30th birthday party over the weekend, which Biel did not attend.
The pair -- who began dating after Timberlake split from Cameron Diaz in 2007 -- recently bought an apartment in NYC.

"The apartment is great," the singer's mother, Lynn Harless, recently told Us. "He's loving it!"

"Most of the time celebs accused of batting for the other team don’t go into detail trying to deny it. Not so with Emile Hirsch.

According to WENN, the rampant imagination of a crew member on the set of Speed Racer has fueled speculation into Hirsch’s sexual orientation.WENN reports that Emile had been half stripped and sweaty on a break with costar Kick Gurry when the crew member entered the trailer the actors were in.

Hirsch told the network:

“Me and Kick were in the trailer hanging out. Kick was sitting back with his hands behind his head and I was doing push ups. It was hot so I peeled my driver’s suit down a bit, and then Eric, the wonderfully gay production assistant, walked in. I jumped up really quick, but I was out of breath.

“Eric slammed the door shut. We went to Eric later and tried to explain. He was like, ‘Shhhhh. I will never tell.’”
Oh, Eric … you wish Emile Hirsch was gay".Source: www.thebadandugly.com

"Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey visited a gay bar together. The pair were seen enjoying 'Martini Tuesday' at Miami's Halo bar this week to research their new movie 'I Love You Phillip Morris', in which they play homosexual lovers.

A source said: "Jim and Ewan looked like they were having a great time. They were laughing and joking and looked as though they were really trying to get into character."

This will not be the first time Ewan has played a gay character.
In 1996 movie 'The Pillow Book' Ewan starred as a bisexual man, and in 1998's 'Velvet Goldmine' he had to film a gay sex scene with 'Batman' star Christian Bale". Source: www.monstersandcritics.com

"Mary (Jena Malone), one of the most Christian young girls at a Baptist High School in Baltimore, likes to talk to her boyfriend Dean (Chad Faust) underwater. She cannot believe her eyes when he mouths, 'I'm gay.' He must be saved and the most obvious way to do that, Mary thinks, is to surrender her virginity. Shortly thereafter, Dean is institutionalized to be deprogrammed and made straight. The Pastor’s son Patrick (Patrick Fugit) has just come to live with his father and is trying to make his dad understand that his marriage is over. Hilary Faye has designs on Patrick who has fallen for Mary. What follows involves much posturing, many misunderstandings, deception, vindictive behavior, and total mayhem. In short, the school is shaken to its very foundation. Soon the labels are flying: queer, unwed mother, divorcee, heathen…" Source: www.chlotrudis.org

Edie Sedgwick and Gerard Malanga,1966.

"Gerard was the person the pretty guy who went out, by the way, he was never gay. He was FAKE gay. You want to be pseudo gay, you can be pseudo gay, but Gerard was never never gay. But Gerard was the person who went out to the girl’s finishing schools, the Madison Avenue, and brought the girls up. Gerard was the person who went out, up to Cornel, and uh, and brought Mary Woronov. To a certain extent Gerard was the person who was the intermediary between Andy’s group of people and the Beat Poets.”
