NineA musical based on the stage musical, which itself was based on Fredrico Fellini’s 8 1/2, about a womanizing film director going through a mid-life crisis. Somehow they got Daniel Day-Lewis to star in it, along with Judi Dench, Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, and Nicole Kidman. It’s directed by Chicago’s Rob Marshall. I would tell you how many Oscar nominations all those people have between them, but I can’t count that high.
But…Marshall’s Memoirs of a Geisha also sounded like an Oscar lock, and it didn’t happen. (November 25)1. Invictus
