"When you are both Hollywood A-listers you don’t care what rent you pay, particularly when the dollar is so strong against the pound. Hence Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend, Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal, are spending a record £4,000 a week on a three-bedroom Victorian terrace house off Westbourne Grove.“The owner couldn’t believe his luck when they turned up”, says Bective Leslie Marsh, which is also selling the madeover house for £2.795 million (call 020 7221 4805). "Reese Witherspoon graces the April 2009 cover of Elle. Here’s a snapshot of how the mag’s interview:
On her divorce from Ryan Phillippe: “Very humiliating and very isolating… But, by the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions. When people get in your face and say, ‘This will pass’, you think, Are they crazy? I’m never gonna feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothing’s ever gonna make sense again. And I still have moments where I’m like, Nothings ever gonna make sense again.” On boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal: “He’s fabulous. He really is a fantastic guy. Unfortunately, he’s not in the movie, so we can’t really talk about him.”
On being a young mother: “When I first had Ava, I couldn’t afford [help]. And it was so hard. I was out in Los Angeles, living [away from my family]. I really didn’t have any friends. And I had a baby. No one else who was 22 had a baby. I couldn’t go out.”On her reported Type A personality: “I don’t think I’m a control freak. I think I’m just fearful. I operate from a lot of fear, like, of things being lost or forgotten or neglected. Losing the spiritual rather than the physical. It’s so funny to me that somehow I’ve been portrayed as a very, like, closed-off or uptight person. I’m very open.”Source: Justjared.buzznet.com

"But last night Marge Simpson cast threw caution to the wind when she enjoyed a lingering lesbian kiss with one of her friends.
The blue-bouffanted matriach, voiced by Julie Kavner, planted a smacker on her attractive friend's lips in the living room of her family home in Springfield while husband Homer looked on.
However, viewers should not worry that Marge is going to run off with her glamorous friend because it transpires that the smooch is all a figment of beer-swigging Homer's imagination.

Sean Penn and James Franco kissing in the subway in "Milk".
"Fresh from his Best Actor Oscar win for portraying slain gay-rights leader Harvey Milk, Sean Penn joined politicians and activists in California on Tuesday to push for a day to honor the man he portrayed in Milk.
Harvey Milk Day on May 22 would not be a holiday, but teachers would recall how the San Francisco supervisor fought for equal rights before his assassination more than 30 years ago.
Penn was joined by politicians and civil rights leaders, including gay-rights activist Cleve Jones (played in Milk by Emile Hirsch). He said that so many have been inspired by the story since Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a similar proposal by state Sen. Mark Leno last September that the governor is unlikely to reject the measure a second time". Source: www.people.com

"In "The Good Girl", Jennifer Aniston plays a Madame Bovary for the Wal-Mart age. She's an adulterous small-town wife named Justine Last who works in a tacky department store and has a disastrous fling with a fellow cashier.
It's a great role for Aniston. With her casually seductive movie-star face and perfect, curvy figure, Justine looks out of place in her scenes -- just as she's supposed to. Justine is a frustrated 30-year-old checkout girl at the Retail Rodeo of Wasteland, Texas. She's a sexy pearl among bland swine in a bleached-out, styleless mid-American cul-de-sac, working in the wrong job in the wrong town, married to the wrong guy (John C. Reilly as pothead house-painter Phil), and eventually mated with the wrong lover as well (Jake Gyllenhaal as writer wannabe Holden Worther).
The movie is a dark comedy about false dreams and lost illusions -- and, thanks to a fine cast and a smart script, it's an effective one. Director Miguel Arteta and writer-actor Mike White, the acidly clever but inwardly tender duo behind "Chuck & Buck" and this movie, make Justine an anti-heroine at the same time they make fun of her and her world. They make Wasteland, Texas, the quintessential town to escape -- except that in this film, the characters seemingly can't". Source: chicago.metromix.com
"When asked if she ever had the desire to "set the record straight", presumably in reference to the much-publicised break-up of her marriage to Pitt three years ago and his subsequent marriage to Angelina Jolie, she replied: "I don't owe anybody my side of the story. "There are no sides! There is no bad guy and there is no good guy. There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story." Rather than the "funny, quirky, pretty roles" she usually gets offered, she said she would enjoy being the next Bond girl. "I'd love to do an action move. James Bond! Glamour! Daniel Craig! ****-loads of fun!"Speaking about her new film, a tear-jerking story about a destructive Labrador, co-starring Owen Wilson, she told ELLE Magazine: "What's great about this movie is that it's a true story. "It's not pretty. It's about the reality of a marriage. "It's a portrait of those moments, which everyone has, where you hit a snag. People go to Mach 5 – "We're done! This is over! We can't recover!" – when, in fact, it's beautiful. "I think breakdowns equal breakthrough. You go further." * The full interview appears in the April Style issue of ELLE, on sale Wednesday March 4". "You probably haven't heard of the movie "Incendiary", and that's because it went straight to video, and also because it's one of the many crap movies starring Michelle Williams and Ewan McGregor. "A very hot-blooded Kristen Stewart described how good it felt to be bitten by Robert Pattinson.
It took a lot for the Japanese questioner to get the question out. She was stammering and her voice was cracking to such an extent that others in the room was giggling. Finally it came: "How did you feel when Robert bit you?" the fan asked. Stewart took a playful look at Pattinson to her left and asked, "Well, how do you think it felt?"
Before the answer could he even be translated, she answered her own question. "(It) was so much better!"
Cold fish Stewart? Forget about it. Instant volcanic heat blast. The response had Pattinson blushing and Lautner slapping his knee while the audience broke into waves of wild laughter as it was translated. Even the translators were laughing.
The questioner pressed her luck and asked, "Which was better, being bitten or kissed by Pattinson?" There were more playfully flirty looks by the couple in question on the podium, but Stewart fell short of answering.
"In the film, Milk doesn't make much of a point about those lost years. "Forty years old and what have I done with my life?" he asks a new lover near the beginning. But the script is never explicit about what prevented him from living fully before 1973, the pivotal year in which he opened his camera store in the Castro. For a better sense of the painful secrecy Milk endured as a closeted gay man living in a pre-Stonewall world, and of the subsequent, purposeful freedom he felt during his belated coming-out, one can turn not only to Robert Epstein and Richard Schmiechen's exceptional 1984 film, The Times of Harvey Milk (which won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 1985), but to the bits of documentary footage Van Sant inserts into Milk's manufactured world.
[...] Milk worked as a high school math and history teacher and basketball coach, for an insurance company, and then as research supervisor for Bache and Company, a Wall Street investment firm. Stolid and bourgeois, he slogged on, wearing suits and punching a time clock, not quite knowing who he might be, and always hiding behind his at times overwhelming personal responsibilities and burdens. He took a series of younger lovers, all of whom were in some way needy or damaged. (Several attempted suicide, with the last, Jack Lira, succeeding some months before Milk's own death.) Hoping to temper the insecurities of Jack McKinley, a lover who suffered from manic depression, abused drugs and alcohol, and frequently threatened suicide, the still-closeted Milk pulled up stakes in 1967 and moved with McKinley to Dallas, where he worked for Bache's Texas branch. Three weeks after arriving, McKinley, bored, went back to New York. Milk returned a year later.Van Sant's aesthetic is constricted by the fixed nature of biography. After Milk has brought us up to 1973, the year Milk decides to run for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, one feels that Van Sant loses interest in the story. There's no room for invention—not with his actors, or even his cinematographer. He must stick to the facts, or to those facts that make Milk Milk—that is, a subject worthy of a biopic. Early on in the film, when Van Sant inserts ghostly documentary images of people in and around the Castro in the 1970s into the montage, one has the sense that the director is making a subtle point about the film's manufactured past in relation to the "real" past of the Castro.
By the time he meets Milk by chance near the latter's camera shop and thinks he's being hit on, Hirsch lets those defenses show—physically and verbally. He's attracted to Milk's paternalism and disturbed by that attraction. During that first meeting, he's drawn to Milk as he walks away. But as Milk talks, Hirsch seems to resign himself to his attraction, letting his arms fall to his sides. In most of their scenes, Hirsch makes Penn resist the temptation to play cute by confronting him with a vulnerability that's greater than his own. Indirectly, Hirsch represents Van Sant's intuitive visual approach to filmmaking, while Penn sticks close to his need to please—a desire that mirrors Milk's own desire to charm, always. By 1975, Milk had become an ally of Mayor George Moscone, who helped institute a system by which candidates for the Board of Supervisors ran by district rather than from the city at large. In 1977, Milk launched his fourth campaign from the Castro, which is to say the newly created District Five. This time, he won the election—and a larger platform from which to articulate one of his biggest political causes, equal rights for gay people. The effects of his own history of secrecy weighed heavily on Milk. In the film, Penn puts it bluntly: "I've had four lovers, and three of them attempted suicide. And it's my fault, because I made them stay in the closet." Milk's tendency to be drawn to the disenfranchised finds its final object, in a way, in Dan White, a straight, sports-loving San Francisco native who was one of his colleagues on the Board of Supervisors. (Given Milk's early years as a sports enthusiast, it's relatively easy to see why he feels for White: White is the man Milk could have become had he married and remained closeted)".Source: www.nybooks.com
