Oscars 2009: Best Hairstyles and Makeup Looks

Natalie Portman

We love that Portman went for a colorful smoky eye in shades of pink and purple. Makeup artist Jeanine Lobell blended Chanel's Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express on lids and lower lash lines to get a "cool, punk rock, sexy fairy makeup" look. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston enhanced her usual look with a fun braid. This video will show you how to create this exact look at home. Anne Hathaway

Classic beauty Hathaway looked perfectly elegant. An important part of her makeup look was her defined brows. Her makeup artist used Lancome Le Crayon Poudre in Sable to fill in her brows. To recreate her hairstyle, make a deep side part and pull hair back into a low bun. Pin the front section of hair over your ear slightly, giving it a glam wave look. Amanda Seyfried

Seyfried could be in a Pantene commercial -- her hair is that gorgeous. Her soft, loose waves were the most gorgeous ones seen on the red carpet. The key to pretty curls like this is starting with very clean hair -- it will give you max shine.
Penelope Cruz

Updos are a staple on the red carpet and we loved Cruz's mid-height chignon. Watch this video to create a similar look.
Kate Winslet

Though her hair wasn't our favorite (it was a bit helmet-like), her makeup was natural yet stunning. Makeup artist Jillian Dempsey used Jillian Dempsey for Avon Pro Eyeshadow Trio in Ice Shimmer to create her shimmering lids and Lancome Color Fever Lipstick in Old Flame on lips for a polished, natural finish.

Inspiration: “My inspiration for Natalie on Oscar night was her dress… The colour was a fantastic orchid, and being Rodarte, I wanted to do cool punk rock sexy fairy make up.”

Get the LookJeanine was going for a smoky eye, and used CHANEL Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. She used the pale pink as a base and the dark purple smoked around the eye on the lid and smudged in lower lash line.

She added CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir inside the eye, and lots of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black for thick sexy lashes. She used CHANEL Perfect Brows in Brun, using the two colours to make a strong brow, but keeping it soft.

Jeanine then used CHANEL Powder Blush in Narcisse, a flattering, bright pink shade, high on the cheek bones. She then added CHANEL Glossimer in Galactic for a more pale lavender lip. Finally, for a sexy, bronze sheen, Jeanine applied CHANEL Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed on Natalie’s arms, shoulders, and décolleté. Source: www.temptalia.com
