I am sure Martin Scorsese was happy to finally be recognized and that he and his friend De Niro are celebrating! I am sorry to see that it hardly gets mentioned anywhere, but I am very happy that Ennio Morricone finally got some recognition for the beautiful music he wrote for so many movies -my personal favorites being 'Once Upon A Time in the West', 'The Mission' and perhaps my most favorite of all, the main theme from 'Once Upon A Time in America'.

Congratulations to Ennio Morricone!, a truly memorable composer of great films, I've read he gave his speech in Italian, that it was a moving speech, he dedicated the Oscar to artists in general and la sua donna...

Ennio Morricone's award was the highlight of the night imo.So much deserved and so late (just like Charlie Chaplin's oscar!!)

I'm not sure if the Departed and Scorcese won because they really are the best of the year or because Scorcese should be awarded a long time ago.
To be honest, I haven't seen the Departed and don't intend to because Scorcese's work in recent years was nothing to be excited about imo.
However, I'm desperate to find the original film the Departed was based on,Internal Affairs, starring the amazing Tony Leung
