"Prince of Persia" is historically accurate

Poster of "Inception" -featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, directed by Christopher Nolan.

"There are two questions that dominate the summer-blockbuster conversation: "What is Inception about?" and "What the hell is up with Jake Gyllenhaal's hair in those Prince of Persia ads?" Chin-length, stringy, ostensibly macho, and the object of national ridicule, his absurd do is a mix of Jordan Catalano, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Rachel from Friends. Though long hair is a hallmark of the chest-baring period hero — Kevin Sorbo’s Hercules, Marc Singer's Beastmaster, the cartoon Aladdin — Gyllenhaal's style is so campy even he has to joke about it. “The Jake Gyllenhaal workout plan starts with growing long, long hair … gorgeous greasy locks and then washing every day … Wash, shampoo, then condition,” the actor told ET Canada. But, as it turns out, Gyllenhaal has nothing to apologize for: It may be ridiculous, but at least it's historically accurate.

“After 300, anything on ancient Iran would have to be a step up in terms of historical accuracy!” she said as we introduced ourselves. But when she saw Gyllenhaal's photo, she seemed relieved. She e-mailed us the above picture of a carving of soldiers from the First Persian Empire, the same-ish era of Prince of Persia.
And what’s under those square hats? Long, greasy hair peeking out the bottom! “It wouldn't have been unlikely at all [to have Gyllenhaal’s haircut], as the medieval period spans several centuries and styles varied by time and region, and even from locality to locality,” explains Dr. Dabiri.
And in case you were thinking that Gyllenhaal's buff physique was for the sake of pure eye candy: Wrong again, history hater! “An Iranian warrior-prince would have had those kinds of muscles!" says Dr. Dabiri. "They did train in martial arts from very young ages. Some accounts say as soon as they were old enough to be taught reading, writing, arithmetic, and so on, martial arts ... was part of their curriculum.” Source: nymag.com

Kirsten Dunst and Kristen Stewart join "On The Road"

Kristen Stewart is confirmed to play Bella Swan in Twilight
saga: "Breaking Dawn"

"Kristen Stewart is getting some female companionship while heading out "On the Road."
Variety reports that "Spider-Man" actress Kirsten Dunst will play an unspecified role in director Walter Salles and producer Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of Jack Kerouac's 1957 novel.

Dunst joins a growing cast that already includes Stewart, Garrett Hedlund ("Tron: Legacy") and Sam Reilly ("Control").

"On the Road" tells the story of Salvatore "Sal" Paradise (Reilly), a curious man who embarks on a road trip across the country. He meets an eclectic assortment of characters along the way, including the self-assured-but-trouble-attracting Dean Moriarty (Hedlund) and his wife Marylou (Stewart).
Dunst's involvement in "On the Road" comes just one week after the announcement of Stewart's own participation. "I am super excited about it," she told USA Today of her casting.Kirsten Dunst in Daily Tribeca magazine.

The road to bring "On the Road" to the big screen has been a lengthy one, as Coppola and Salles first secured the rights to the film more than three decades ago. The movie entered production in 2005 but stalled due to a lack of financing. In his attempts to adapt "On the Road," Salles traveled the same cross-country route as the book's author and even filmed a documentary, "In Search of On the Road."

"The film greatly benefited from the extra time we had to conceptualize it," Salles told Variety of his lengthy journey in adapting the novel. "The unedited scroll version was published recently and inspired a new version of the screenplay written by Jose Rivera that is at the same time more luminous, daring and muscular than the one we had at the start."
