Kingsley is villain Nizam

"I'm not too acquainted with ancient Middle Eastern gang signs, so I can't be positive what Ben Kingsley is throwing up. But I have to assume it's evil, since he is the villain of PRINCE OF PERSIA.

The movie (subtitled THE SANDS OF TIME) is based on the long-running and bestselling videogame series, and features Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role. Kingsley, seen here on set in costume (unless he just came from a THUNDERBIRDS reunion), plays baddie Nizam.
Extra Tidbit: Persia is now officially known as the Islamic Republic of Iran. Which wouldn't sell quite as many movie tickets".

More reviews of Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist

"Infinite Playlist unfolds after Norah, the film's music-loving antiheroine played expertly by Kat Dennings (The House Bunny, The 40-Year Old Virgin), ropes heartbroken musician Nick into posing as her boyfriend at a nightclub.

Turns out, they're a hip version of seemingly star-crossed lovers. Norah's been secretly salvaging mix CDs intended for Nick's ex-girlfriend, a man-eating tween named Tris (executed terrifyingly well by Alexis Dziena). This forms the focus of the film -- can Nick and Norah unravel messy ties to their exes in time to explore their own blooming romance?"

"But what keeps the sweetness from cloying the entire enterprise is Cera’s subtle performance. While all around him are “acting” up a storm, Cera is natural and vulnerable, yet somehow serene. He will come to know what he really deserves — and wants — only gradually. And rather than grabbing at it fiercely, he will draw it to himself by his magnetic appeal. At crucial moments, a smile crosses his lips that can only be compared to the Mona Lisa’s. He’s got a rare quality of seeming not to try, much like a younger Tobey Maguire. Cera’s performance is the one anchor that keeps this film from going off the rails. And, like Almost Famous (2000), the soundtrack is a virtual pop playlist of its own". Source: www.packetonline.com
"The Feelies are from Hoboken, from Nick's neck of the woods.
So you want to know what Nick is all about? Just look at his room, a veritable shrine to a kind of music, an ethos that rebelled against corporate rock which went through several name changes over the years, starting with punk (college music, post-modern, and alternative were all applicable at one time or another) and ending up as indie-rock, for the time being. For lack of a better word, Nick is a hipster. He's a Generation Y William Miller (the Cameron Crowe-alter ego from "Almost Famous")Luckily, he met Norah (Kat Dennings), his musical soulmate, in the nick of time; fifteen more minutes with Tris (Alexis Dziena) would've resulted in him losing all his indie cred. Tris is the sort of girl who secretly loves Maroon 5, but pretends to be into The Arcade Fire, just because of the Montreal band's cool cachet. In one scene, Norah's sturdy indie cred goes toe-to-toe with Tris' own shaky indie cred, when Nick's ex forgets the "Where's" in "Where's Fluffy?", a band so elitist, they make themselves inaccesible to their own fans. "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" is about being young and alive on a Friday night. It's also about being in love with music" -review by Chad S.

The Prince of Persia new videos

"The first of the two videos released at Tokyo Game Show is slowed down to give an in-depth look at the colorful visuals and the teamwork between the Prince and his constant companion, Elka. She's basically the Tails to Prince's Sonic. She and the Prince can pull off combo attacks on enemies and she'll also help him overcome obstacles in the platforming segments of the game. When the Prince is about to fall to his death, she'll grab him and pull him to safety.

The second video is a gameplay montage showing off the game's platforming and combat at full speed. You can definitely see remnants of Assassin's Creed's Scimitar engine here. There's dramatic slow-downs in the combat when the Prince and his foe parry each other's blows".

Prince of Persia will arrive in stores on December 2nd for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Jake in "Abby Singer" (2003)

"Writer/director Ryan Williams has cobbled together, in fantastic fashion, a visually bewildering, temporally nightmarish gem of an indie film that would, in a perfect world, become the standard by which independent films are judged in the future. [...]

Curtis Clemins is that part of our psyche we don't want to admit exists; he's fragile, he's needy, and he's good at what he does, he just has no idea where life would take him if even one of his carefully-placed elementals was to take a tumble. And tumble it does -- his girlfriend Mabeline (maybe she's born with it) breaks it off for good in the middle of the Independent Spirit Awards, and Curtis goes to pieces.
The film also features cameo appearances by such favorites as Jake Gyllenhaal, Roger Ebert, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Stockard Channing, Robin Tunney, Patricia Arquette, and more".

Drew Barrymore wants you to vote

Drew Barrymore sporting a Marc Jacobs T-shirt that reads, in bold Jacobsean font, TIME FOR A CHANGE, in a photoshoot for Harpers Bazaar.

"Drew's greatest priority is getting people to that other roller derby, the polls. "I'm impressed with young people's awareness of the issues, but I don't understand why their voting numbers are so low," she says with a shrug. "That's got to change." The sunny optimist returns: "I can't imagine why we all don't want desperately to take care of each other. We need to be passionately inspired by the fact that we can take our environment and our country back."

Michael Cera (Hoodies or Ties)

"last night i went to see Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist and it was so cute!-I think the entire cast is so much fun to watch, and the storyline is great-Seeing movies like this is such a good feeling...it also shows you how important movies are in life-you can be in a horrible mood, and most of the time a movie that makes you laugh and enjoy life can change your mood by the time you walk out of the theatre.

-try and check out the film, i'm a big fan of Kat Dennings and Michael Cera and it would be nice to give them some support!"

Michael Cera (Hoodies or Ties) Video:

Nick & Norah's shot of happiness

"In this time of endlessly downbeat cinema, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist does provide a well-earned shot of happiness. It effortlessly harks back to the innocent days of being a teenager, and even today’s teens will likely be taken aback by the size of the film’s heart. Director Peter Sollett lets his actors and settings do the work, and he has fine examples of both to work with. The screenplay, by Lorene Scafaria (working from the novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan), is well-paced [...]Michael Cera and Kat Dennings own this movie, and their chemistry is superb. I’m not sure how much longer Cera can get away with the playing the awkward, shy dork, but he continues to excel. Dennings, with her erratic confidence and dry humor, is an excellent compliment to Cera. Filmgoers of all ages will be able to identify with their personality traits, not to mention they are both extremely likeable. Ari Graynor, who plays the completely trashed Caroline, also deserves a mention simply for possibly being the most disgusting drunk in the history of cinema.

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist resurrects an innocence that I thought was forever gone in this day and age".

"After discussing their new teen-romance comedy-with-music, "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," all morning, lunch had become a priority."That sounds like the best soup they could have had for the soup of the day," Cera said, with his earnest, glass-half-full disposition that audiences have come to love. "I was at the airport yesterday and there was a tomato and red pepper soup and I ate it and it was so good."
So, Kat, as a native, have you taken Michael to any of your favorite local spots?
"No. We've just been kind of busy the whole time. I wish I could bring you back here in winter time and take you to Suburban Square," Dennings said to her co-star".

Cool Hand Luke DVD (Deluxe Edition)

"Based on the novel by Donn Pearce, Paul Newman plays the anti-hero sent to a workhouse after a drunken binge that included the destruction of public property (He cut the heads off of parking meters). The camp is run by a tough warden (Strother Martin), but the leader of the men is Dragline (George Kennedy in an Academy Award-winning performance). Though originally too tough for the situation, Luke (Newman) eventually wins over his bunkmates and becomes the leader, if not the deity, of the camp.

This new restored edition on DVD looks and sounds great, and includes a well-made documentary entitled “A Natural-Born World Shaker: Making of Cool Hand Luke. The documentary includes some great interviews with cast, director Stuart Rosenberg, and more.

[...] This is some of Newman’s best work, and it cements him as one of the best actors of the generation. Spotting actors before they were stars makes the experience even more enjoyable as does repeating all the classic quotes from the film, such as "Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand."

Bountiful lunchs

"Harry and Sally had a mind-blowing lunch at Katz's.
Carrie Bradshaw satisfied her sweet tooth with Magnolia cupcakes. And of course, there's Seinfeld and the Soup Nazi. For as long as movies and television shows have filmed scenes in New York restaurants, fans and tourists have been flocking to them.

Michael Cera might not be as established as Billy Crystal, as suave as Chris Noth, or as iconic as Jerry Seinfeld, but he is fast becoming one of Hollywood's leading young men. His latest flick, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, opened last Friday and Tom Birchard, owner of the restaurant Veselka, reports that they were "slammed all weekend."One of the final scenes of the movie features Cera and leading lady Kat Dennings at the East Village Ukrainian eatery feasting on pierogies. Evidently fans (we're guessing the bulk of them were NYU freshman girls) flooded Veselka, which is open 24 hours, after seeing the film at nearby theaters. Of course, Cera was nowhere in sight (he divides his time between Canada and Los Angeles), but what better way to console a crush than with a steaming bowl of soul-warming borscht?"

Hitting the rocks?

"Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal's oatmeal-esque relationship is hitting the rocks. While Jake is tied up filming the adaptation of the Prince of Persia video game, the long distance relationship isn't going well with Reese who should, seriously, try to work things out".

Star reports:
"This is his first epic, and his mind is on his work," a pal of Reese's tells Star. "They talk on the phone and e-mail, but he's not 'there.' Reese is wondering if this is how it's going to be between them every time he's out of the country filming."
The relationship hit such a rough patch that Reese, 32, flew to London for a quick rendezvous with Jake, 27, at The Dorchester hotel in mid-September.

"They really needed to reconnect and remember why they were in a relationship in the first place", says another source.

It looks like Jake Gyllenhaal's success is putting a wet blanket on his love life - which was already a wet blanket".
