“A sensory revelation” –Mark Peranson, Vancouver International Film Festival
"Didi Fire's performance is brilliant… Menkes's unclassifiable cinema, whose fascination lies in the interplay among characters, space, and filmmaker, is truly all her own. Extraordinary and original!"
--Chris Fujiwara, Boston Phoenix

"One of the year's top five films" - Barbara Wurm, Sight and Sound
“Dazzling!...A kind of existential film noir, rich in evocative imagery--its inspired, confounding final moments are as astonishing as they are precise.” – Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times

"In the 25 years since her first feature, Magdalena Viraga, Nina Menkes has remained one of the few American directors working at feature length whose films — in both form and thought — are genuinely radical. Menkes' main preoccupation across her six films (including Phantom Love and her latest work, Dissolution, which screen at the Downtown Independent this week) is violence in all its forms, and her approach, oblique yet intuitive, has yielded results that have more to say on the subject than any American director since Peckinpah or Cassavetes." - Phil Coldiron, LA Weekly

Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlun attending Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlun, co-stars in "On the road" attending Glamour Women of the Year Awards

"Stepping out for another swanky awards show, Kristen Stewart was spotted arriving at Glamour Women Of The Year Awards on Tuesday (June 7).

The “Twilight” hottie looked picture perfect in a strapless, mini-dress and heels as she posed for photos on the red carpet before heading inside Berkeley Square Gardens.

Even though her superstar beau, Robert Pattinson, was not in attendance, a body language expert recently revealed that the “Twilight” couple is at the “peak of their love.”

Some of the Sexiest High School Outcasts in Film

Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy as Andrew Clark and Allison Reynolds in "The Breakfast Club"

Allison Reynolds, The Breakfast Club (1985) Played By: Ally Sheedy

To the credit of John Hughes and Ally Sheedy, Allison Reynolds is one of the most believable loners on this list. In spite of her model looks, the actresses's matted hair, random outbursts and habit of attending detention at-will made her a convincing basket case.

Boy in Police Station, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) Played By: Charlie Sheen

Even with his Adonis DNA (his words, not Movieline's), Charlie Sheen nailed his role as the wise police station drug addict in this '80s classic. Credit the intense stare, shifty eyes, and general Charlie Sheen-ness. Whatever he did with Jennifer Grey off-set is another matter entirely (Sheen said the first star he ever slept with was Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey).

Heath Ledger kissing Julia Stiles (Patrick Verona and Kat Stratford) in "10 Things I Hate About You" (1999)

Patrick Verona, 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) Played By: Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger may have been beautiful, but his 10 Things I Hate About You character was a gruff, angsty teenager who smoked in pool halls and made money off of dating other outcasts. As such, he qualifies as one of the sexiest loners on this list.

Donnie Darko, Donnie Darko (2001) Played By: Jake Gyllenhaal

Unlike most of the characters on this list, Jake Gyllenhaal's disturbed Donnie Darko legitimately earned his loner status, as does anyone else who has visions of demonic rabbits.

Christian Slater and Winona Ryder as J.D. and Veronica in "Heathers"

J.D., Heathers (1988) Played By: Christian Slater

As most high school films featuring attractive outsiders tend to do, Heathers justified that the attractive J.D. was an outsider because he was new to town. Unlike other high school films, J.D. perpetuated his outsiderness by pulling guns on classmates and feeding his peers drain cleaner.

Cady Heron, Mean Girls (2004) Played By: Lindsay Lohan

In spite of her good looks, Cady Heron does not fit in because she was homeschooled in Africa by her zoologist parents. But because of those same looks, she is also able to infiltrate the popular clique by forfeiting her own values and putting together a slutty Halloween costume.

Olive Penderghast, Easy A (2010) Played By: Emma Stone

Our favorite kind of outcast on this list, Emma Stone's Olive Penderghast learns to embrace her new status as the school "skank" and is (almost) completely unconcerned about her peers' perception of her. Source: www.movieline.com

Michael Cera's 23rd Birthday! Jason Bateman talks "Arrested Development"

Happy 23rd Birthday, Michael Cera!

David Gordon Green, Michael Cera and Anna Kendrick attend the Juror Welcome Lunch At The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival at Tribeca Lofts on April 21, 2011 in New York City.

"At last night's Sneak Peek Week Q&A session for "Horrible Bosses" the inevitable topic of "Arrested Development" came up when a fan tweeted the following question for Jason Bateman:
"Do you think after this part [in 'Horrible Bosses' Jennifer] Aniston may get her cameo on the Arrested Development movie?" Sounds like a great idea to us, but sadly, Bateman's immediate answer wasn't exactly encouraging on the "Arrested" front in general.

"I'm always so hesitant in saying anything about the movie", he said. "Because even if I say I have no comment, then that is a headline: 'Jason Bateman Talks About The Arrested Development Movie! He Said He Had No Comment!' I always feel so bad, because we're not trying to perpetuate no news at all. But we politely answer when we're asked, and there is no update."

(No update? That's not what MTV Movie Awards host Jason Sudeikis heard: "You told me you guys had been shooting this for two weeks", he teased.)

Bateman added that the update he gave us back in March — that he'd gotten together with Mitch Hurwitz to discuss the film's story — wasn't really an update at all: "He did, but that's not an update. That's about the story from March."

Is Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal's urgent kiss in Brokeback Mountain greatest movie kiss?

Jake Gyllenhaal at "LAPD Medal of Valor Ceremony" on May 26, 2011 in Los Angeles, CA

"Is it the urgent kiss between Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain that tugs at your heart, or do you get swept up with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in Gone With The Wind? Do you get revved up by watching Naomi Watts and Laura Harring in Mulholland Dr.?
Or, like as it so often is at the MTV Movie Awards themselves, will it be Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight who stand the test of time as the greatest movie kiss ever? Source: popwatch.ew.com
