9. The Joker (Heath Ledger), The Dark Knight
Looking deranged takes no skill. Looking deranged and stylish takes genius. You match your hair to your three-piece suit—your green and purple suit, the one with odd geometric patterns and a sick trim fit. And to edge ahead of the other peacocks strutting their stuff in Gotham, you add a lot carefully smudged make-up. It's the perfect touch of crazy for the Why-So-Serious icon.—A.R.
19. Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), Brokeback Mountain
It's Montana in 1963. Shacking up with another cowboy won't be legal for another 34 years. It takes guts, to say the least. In shearling jackets, properly-matched denim, and, of course, a Western hat, Jack Twist dresses the part of a rugged fella willing to break all sorts of social and literal laws. The real style is in the way Twist pulls his clothes on though—consciously. Even self-consciously. His insecurities come out in the way he bundles his hands in pockets and lowers his hat's brim. He makes those tics look covetable though, even if his situation isn't.—A.R. Source: www.gq.com

Happy 85th Anniversary, Marilyn Monroe!
Happy 85th Anniversary, Marilyn Monroe!
What does it take to become a star? In the fall of 1948, Marilyn Monroe had just a few roles in box office flops on her resume -- but LIFE photographer J. R. Eyerman apparently saw enough of a glimmer in the 22-year-old starlet to follow her through the showbiz training that promised to make her big.
The incredible -- and seldom seen -- images in this gallery are the first a LIFE photographer ever took of Monroe, though the magazine did not publish them at the time. (In fact, she wouldn't show up in LIFE's pages until October 1949, along with seven other then-unfamiliar Hollywood "girls").
But now, in celebration of what would have been Monroe's 85th birthday (June 1, 2011), LIFE.com presents these rare gems, restored to their original glory and showing early-career Monroe in the dance, acting, and voice classes that helped make her an icon for the ages". Source: movies.yahoo.com

On Rehabilitating Her Shopaholism:
“There was a time that I was splurging quite a bit on fashion but then I realized, I’m going to be broke! I realized I had to find a way to express myself without being covered head to toe in designer clothing. I mix it up now.” Source: www.flare.com

Robert Pattinson filming "Cosmopolis" in Toronto, video and stills
Video of Robert Pattinson walking to his trailer from the set
Cosmopolis comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Robert Pattinson, Marion Cotillard, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric, Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, Sarah Gadon, Jay Baruchel. The film is directed by David Cronenberg.
Now that Robert Pattinson has finished work on Breaking Dawn, the two-part, final installment of The Twilight Saga, he is moving on to director David Cronenberg's adaptation of Cosmopolis.
Based on the novel by Don DeLillo, Cosmopolis stars Pattinson as a young multimillionaire named Eric Packer, whose limo ride to get a haircut becomes a 24-hour odyssey around Manhattan that includes a rap star's funeral, presidential-visit traffic jams, terrorist attacks, stalkings, and frequent run-ins with his wife, played by Sarah Gadon (Dream House).
Cronenberg's daughter, photographer Cait Cronenberg used her photo of Cronenberg and Gadon in the movie, coincidentally in the back of a vehicle. Her photo arrived just days before set photos were released online, again showing Pattinson and Gadon meeting up, this time in a cafe.
