"Essentially, the film boils down to the question of how an amoral, manipulative man such as Jamie will react to the reality of his girlfriend's illness; and if this sounds like a grim subject for a movie, it doesn't play that way, thanks to the skills of the actors involved and the wit imbued in the screenplay (by Charles Randolph, Marshall Herskovitz and the director). In other hands, the film could easily have fallen into the trap of the "glamorous illness" genre that was most famously represented by Love Story in 1970. Love & Other Drugs manages to avoid most of the cliches inherent in this kind of movie. True, the film pulls its punches in the end, sugar-coating what, in reality, would seem to be a pretty bitter pill; but by that time it has explored, with seeming fearlessness, all sorts of important issues".

"Captain Stevens Colter wakes from a shock and finds himself in a train who goes to Chicago. While all other passengers seem to know him, he has no idea where or who he is.
Colter does not remember anything about him or how he got on the train, remembers one thing, as they fly by helicopter on a mission in Iraq. Suddenly a train approaching from the opposite side, and explode a bomb that kills passengers, Colter and others.
Then he wakes up in an isolated room, tied to a chair, where he is informed that an operation is part of called "Beleaguered Castle." As recive more information about this, again finds himself on the train, where he awoke the first time. Colter now realize its mission, namely to stop the man who detonates a bomb, and he will try to stop it".

The 'Love & Other Drugs' star is concerned his acting career won't always be successful but already has a back-up plan prepared for when he gets older. He said: "You're always wondering how long this will last. It's a piece of being an actor. There's always someone more talented or younger than you.
"But I also like to write. In years to come, I think that will expand. I won't just be scrapping for the next job. Maybe I'll create something for myself."
Perhaps Jake could consider penning his own comedy after admitting he accepted the role as a Viagra salesman who falls in love with a Parkinson's disease sufferer - played by Anne Hathaway -
in 'Love and Other Drugs' because he was so tired of a lack of films that combined laughter and emotion.
He told Britain's Glamour magazine: "I'm tired of comedies that make you laugh but you don't buy the emotional side. "The film has a sense of comedy, but also a sense of something deeper, about the difficulties of being alive."

"The field of visual effects Oscar contenders has been narrowed down to 15 titles, the academy announced Friday afternoon, with several expected films and a couple of surprises. Among the semi-finalists, chosen by the executive committee of the academy's visual effects branch, are Christopher Nolan's "Inception", Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" and Clint Eastwood's "Hereafter."
In January, the list will be trimmed from 15 to seven titles, before the annoucement of the Academy Awards nominees on Jan. 25.
