"Of course, if there's an opportunity to do another one and people respond to it," Gyllenhaal told Reuters in an interview to promote the movie, when asked if he envisaged the film as part of a series.

"I don't think that's really on our mind. I think our mind is to get this one out. But of course, it would be an honor. If an audience asks for a sequel, then that's an honor," added the actor, who trained hard for demanding stunt and fight sequences.

The three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films to date, starring Johnny Depp, are a hard act to follow, having grossed $2.7 billion at the global box office.

Industry followers see an additional challenge in that big-screen adaptations of video games have struggled to meet expectations. Estimates of Prince of Persia's production budget range from $150-200 million.

"I know ... this will not appease all gamers, and I know there is a lot of skepticism about the translation of a video game to a movie, but I also feel excited that I think we've done something that's better than any of the translations that have come out thus far.

"These games haven't been given the respect they deserve in the movie world and I think (producer) Jerry (Bruckheimer) has done that and I think that we tried so hard to make it our own and at the same time stay true to the games.

"They (gamers) are tough, and I appreciate that. I come from a tough family. I don't mind tough critics."
In Prince of Persia Gyllenhaal plays Dastan, a boy adopted by King Sharaman who becomes embroiled in a quest to protect a magic dagger that can access the legendary Sands of Time, capable of turning back time.
Gyllenhaal said he looked back far into Hollywood history for inspiration.

The documentarian directing it is a guy named Roko Belic. He and I recently sat down to discuss how we can best throw our flavor into the mix.

Largely, it seems he's looking for dreamy visuals for cutaways. He mentioned five archetypal dreams and asked us to create visual/graphic/animated/cinematic interpretations.

1. Inappropriate Dress
2. Teeth Falling Out
3. Flying
4. Being Chased
5. Falling

Hitting shelves at the end of May, "Fame: Robert Pattinson" is the latest in Bluewater Productions' popular line of bio-comics. The 32-page comic promises to "trace Pattinson's career from his first performance in Tess of the D'Urbervilles at London's Barnes Theatre to his star turn in the Twilight movies," and features a script by Kim Sherman and interior art by Nathaniel Ooten. Next month, the Los Angeles Film Festival will likely welcome a new contingent: throngs of screaming girls.
The annual event, which announced its lineup on Tuesday, will feature the world-premiere screening of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”, the long-awaited third installment in the popular vampire franchise. It’s not exactly typical film festival fare, but organizers are hoping it will serve a larger purpose.“If we program a movie like ‘Twilight’ that draws audiences that might not otherwise attend film festivals, hopefully we’ll expose them to other cinematic experiences that we think are inspiring,” said festival director Rebecca Yeldham.

The 29-year-old actor is in London for the premiere of his new film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. He recently talked about what drew him to this role as Prince Dastan. “On a personal front, it was something that was so unlikely to find myself doing. It was unlike anything I’d ever played. But when I talked to director Mike Newell about it, it wasn’t just a video game adaptation. It was a massive epic that he had in the works. Gordon-Levitt then could segue to "Looper" the latest movie from Johnson. Veteran producer Ram Bergman is producing with Endgame, which also is financing.

Johnson gave Gordon-Levitt one of his first major roles as the actor was coming off five years worth of "3rd Rock From the Sun." Gordon-Levitt's role in "Brick" represented a 180-degree turn from his NBC sitcom work.

"Looper" is set during a future in which time travel has been invented, with operatives sent back to the present to assassinate criminals. Gordon-Levitt will play a man sent back to kill himself.
