Jake attends "Crazy Heart" premiere

Maggie Gyllenhaal at "Crazy Heart" Press Conference 2009.

"Susie pointed out the massive age difference between Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal, his co-star in "Crazy Heart"--he's 60, she's 32-- while Steve had Tiger on his mind.

Maggie's brother Jake Gyllenhaal snuck in for the screening only, with no sign of current galpal Reese Witherspoon. Even Maggie left hubby Peter Sarsgaard at home".

Anna Kendrick - Entertainment Weekly scan, November 2009.Anna Kendrick in Vanity Fair magazine, January 2010.

"Michael Cera, who co-stars with Anna Kendrick in next year’s Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is the star of next summer’s Youth In Revolt, a picture which might have previously had little to do with The Twilight Saga: New Moon".
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Edward and Bella in "New Moon" (2009).

"The film centers on “Nick Twisp” who’s got his eyes set on a girl and he won’t take no for an answer - instead transforming into a suave ladies man persona by the name of “Francois.”“Francois” in this hilarious spoof poster issued by (according to Digital Spy) the movie’s film studio for a few laughs, is made to look like Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga: New Moon".

Michael Cera in "The one where Michael leaves" episode - Arrested Development Season 2.

"Arrested Development has become the poster child of TV critical darlings that couldn’t win mass appeal. In the show’s final episode, after the show was officially cancelled, executive producer Ron Howard mentioned, with a wink and nod, that a movie was a possible next step. Since then, the development of the Arrested Development movie has been a soap opera of sorts, with several reports claiming that Michael Cera was holding up the project. Cera has been quoted as saying that he wasn't confident that an Arrested film adaptation would work, and he decided to spend his time instead on other film projects. Fans of the show took to the virtual streets, though, and apparently convinced both Cera and the film's backers to move forward.
This past February, Cera confirmed that he was indeed joining the cast. And slowly, all the pieces of the puzzle seemed to be coming together. Last month, creator Mitch Hurwitz confirmed he would be directing the film and that the screenplay was more than halfway finished. We’re thinking the film will be the best thing Ron Howard has produced since his daughter (not including, of course, the original TV series)". Source: www.blackboomag.com

"Brothers" Unraveling in wartime

Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal in 'For Your Consideration' Ad - Brothers (2009)

Listen to "Brothers" movie review by Npr.org Fresh Air from WHYY:
'Brothers': Family Ties, Unraveling in Wartime

Source: www.npr.org

"December 4, 2009 - DAVE DAVIES, host:
Mr. JAKE GYLLENHAAL (Actor): (As Tommy Cahill) Look, you know, just say it, you know what I mean, all right. He told me I could borrow the car whenever I want.

Ms. NATALIE PORTMAN (Actor): (As Grace Cahill) Sam's dead.

(Soundbite of sobbing)

Mr. GYLLENHAAL: (As Tommy) What are you talking about?

Ms. PORTMAN: (As Grace) He's dead, Tommy, (unintelligible).

Mr. GYLLENHAAL: (As Tommy) Why didn't you call me? Why'd you let him go over there, Grace?

Ms. PORTMAN: (As Grace) Tommy.

Mr. GYLLENHAAL: (As Tommy) Well, what now, huh?

EDELSTEIN: It's not a spoiler to say top-billed Tobey Maguire does not, in fact, die in the first 15 minutes. But for much of "Brothers," he's thought by his family to be dead. Director Jim Sheridan skips among the three protagonists - Sam in Afghanistan, and Tommy and Grace back home -but he never loses the story's pulse. That's because the story isn't Sam or Tommy or Grace individually but the family unit. It's how Sam's actions when he's captured relate to how his dad raised him and what he owes Grace. And how Tommy's assumption of responsibility is partly because Grace is so pretty and her older daughter is so needy, and partly to prove something to his dad that he couldn't when Sam was alive.
Who'd have guessed that stars who made their names as nerd heroes Peter Parker and Donnie Darko could be so credibly messed up and volatile? Maguire isn't big physically but his tautness radiates power. Responsibility is his mantra. When he's thrown in a pit with one of his men, he coldly orders the soldier to forget his family, forget everything but his name. But as we jump back to Sam's wife and daughters, we wonder, can he really forget his own? Copyright © 2009 National Public Radio®.
