Robert Pattinson: a homewrecker?

"Is Robert Pattinson's sex appeal so utterly overwhelming that he's capable of destroying relationships just by co-starring with someone? The New York Post reports that Uma Thurman, who's scheduled to share the screen with Pattinson in the upcoming romance flick Bel Ami, has split up with her fiancé, hedge fund manager Arki Busson, making Busson the latest in a long line of victims of what many (okay, so far, "we") are calling The R-Pattz Co-Star Curse. The earliest recorded instance of The R-Pattz Co-Star Curse (copyright pending) occurred early this year, when Gentlemen Broncos actor Michael Angarano, who had been dating Pattinson's Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, suddenly disappeared from Stewart's life with the swiftness and completeness of a Soviet dissident.

But this was just the beginning of R-Pattz's relationship-wrecking streak. Back in June, as she prepared to film the romantic comedy Remember Me with Pattinson, Lost star Emilie de Ravin announced that she was parting ways with her husband of three years, December Ends thesp Josh Janowicz. And thus, a pattern emerged.
If we were The Wrestler director Darren Aranofsky—who's engaged (for now anyway) to Rachel Weisz, who'll be co-starring with Pattinson in the upcoming historical drama Unbound Captives—we'd be pretty worried right now.
Natalie Portman and Darren Aronofsky on the set of 'The Black Swan', on 8th December 2009, shooting in Lincoln Center.

Then again, given that Aranofsky is currently preparing to film an angry, aggressive sex scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, he might have already mentally checked out of that relationship".

Blondes, Elisha Cuthbert in "The Forgotten"

"A few months ago it was reported that Scarlett Johansson was leading a list of actress under consideration to play Marilyn Monroe in director Simon Curtis' biopic, My Week with Marilyn. Kate Hudson, Amy Adams and Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) were also mentioned as possible contenders for the role.Production Weekly has now learned that Johansson is out of the running and that its Williams who is in-talks with Curtis to top line the movie, set to begin lensing in June, 2010.My Week will be based on the diary of Colin Clark, an employee of Laurence Olivier, who looked after Monroe when she came to London to film Olivier's "The Prince and the Showgirl" in 1957. Although Colin was technically considered the third assistant director, his unofficial role was to keep Monroe out of Olivier's way". Source: www.cinemaspy.com

I am convinced Michelle Williams will do justice to the role of Norma Jean if she finally accepts the role proposal, but at a pure physical appearance level, my idea of a translation on-screen of the mythical Marilyn would suit better by other actresses, for me Jaime King or Elisha Cuthbert have that "bombshell ingenués" look more accused than Michelle does.

In this photoshoot by Mark Seliger, Elisha gives off this classical resonance (in special with Marilyn's Santa Monica beach photoshoot by George Barris):
Happy belated birthday to the lovely Elisha Cuthbert, her b-day was on 30 November!
"Elisha Cuthbert (24) has joined the cast of ABC drama series The Forgotten, where she will appear in a recurring role.
Cuthbert will play Maxine Denver, described in press materials as "a strong and successful Chicago professional who is forced to put her skepticism of 'amateur detectives' aside when The Forgotten Network begins investigating a case close to home."
Her first episode is slated to air in February. The Forgotten recently received an additional five-episode order from ABC". Source: www.televisionaryblog.com

DiCaprio & Hirsch: corporate world threatening their characters

Emile Hirsch in "Into the Wild" (2007).Leonardo DiCaprio in "Body of Lies" (2008).

Leonardo DiCaprio talking about his character Danny Archer in "Blood Diamond" (2006):
“First off on the script, it was such a powerful character. It was such a powerful storyline and that’s what you look for first. I wasn’t personally going out seeking films with a social and political message, just to do it for the sake of doing it. It has to have an entertainment value. To me, it was very representative of a huge issue in the world today of corporate responsibility and what these corporations do, and certainly Africa has been a prime target for it - all the way to gold and rubber and all kinds of other natural resources. And here was this character that was exploiting others that were less fortunate than him, dealing in the black market and not really being conscious of the world he lives in. I just felt it was a really powerful". Source: movies.about.com

"Speaking about his character, Hirsch said, “Speed is a very serious, passionate guy.” He admires that the character is “not willing to sell out to the big corporate conglomerate.” Then Hirsch joked that in taking the role he was “so excited to sell out to a big corporate conglomerate.”Hirsch was a fan of the “Speed Racer” series growing up. “I used to watch it in the morning with my cereal, and I would pour soda into the cereal.” He described the show as “one of those crazy shows you’d watch on a sugar rush. The colors and the action and the sense of adventure” brought that immediate appeal. Looking back on the show now, he said it has a “retro cool.” Source: www.comicbookresources.com

Brothers and Esquire's top 2009 women

"Brothers" clip "He's dead":

"Maguire plays a Marine, Sam, who volunteers, much to the dismay of his wife (Portman) and young daughters, for a second tour of duty in Afghanistan. When he is reported killed, his widow has difficulty accepting it. But she has his brother (Gyllenhaal) to help her and her daughters go through the ordeal and even bring a sunny presence into the home.
But, after torture-filled months as a hostage, Sam returns, a changed man. Maguire is fine at being creepy. Yet the actor uneasily makes the transition from the good-guy father to the clearly traumatized vet, despite the fact his war experience has been depicted graphically by the script and director Jim Sheridan. The family is complicated by the father (playwright-actor Sam Shepard), an alcoholic former Marine officer who terms Sam the superior son. But the fact is, Sam can only function in the violent aspect of the military.Gyllenhaal comes off best. He has an easy role to play, except for one scene in which he is seen preparing to make amends to the teller whose bank he robbed". Source: blog.syracuse.com

We know what it's like to have a rough few years, so we won't fault you for Wimbledon, Marie Antoinette, or Spider-Man 3. It made us miss even more the Kirsten we'd been so charmed by in Eternal Sunshine.

"I had a greasy threesome with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and another actor called Jeremy Northam, and we were literally in a bed for two days."
Kate Mara (March)
She talks about being nervous about her photo shoot since she spent the last month in London, working on a play, thirty nights at the pub.

Jake Gyllenhaal is a proxy father in "Brothers"

"On the other hand, the movie only hints at Tommy's past, and Gyllenhaal is left to do the heavy lifting.

He pulls it off beautifully.
Consider the dinner scene early in the film, and Tommy's face-off with his father (Sam Shepard), intent on goading and belittling him; there's so much unspoken family history packed into Tommy's increasingly unsuccessful attempts to contain his anger while his dad throws insults. And consider the suggestion, subtly planted, that Tommy is using his brother's apparent death -- and the resulting opportunity to be a "good guy" -- as a self-esteem boost to make up for decades of playing second fiddle to his star athlete, war hero brother. It's a fantastic, troubling performance -- smaller and quieter than Maguire's, to be sure, but more impressive for it". Source: www.cinematical.com

"Grace and her daughters struggle to survive in the wake of the news, and Tommy soon becomes a part of their everyday existence. He serves as a proxy father to the girls, and his relationship to Grace grows from dislike to dependence. But the new life they've begun to build shatters when Grace receives the news that Sam is alive. The man who returns from Afghanistan bears little resemblance to the one who left, and he grows jealous of Tommy's closeness with his daughters and his wife".

Jake Gyllenhaal at 78th Annual Academy Awards on 5th March, 2006 in Hollywood. He was nominated as Supporting Actor for his role Jack Twist in "Brokeback Mountain".

"I wouldn't mind seeing Gyllenhaal get a nod for Brothers considering I thought his was the best performance in it… but for what category? Lionsgate has placed him in the Best Supporting Actor category, but in reality all three (Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman) are co-leads in that film if anything, which could cause voting confusion".
