"On the first anniversary of his death, Heath Ledger received an Oscar nomination.
The Dark Knight star is up for Best Supporting Actor, alongside Josh Brolin (Milk), Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder); Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road).
Ledger himself also thought the role was worthy of awards.
"The minute Heath started doing make-up and wardrobe tests, we realized it was going to be something really special", Dark Knight producer Emma Thomas recently told Entertainment Weekly. "I remember doing a fitting where he put on that pink nurse's dress and he had the Joker's socks on and it changed the way he moved completely. Right from the beginning, people were talking about this as an Oscar-worthy performance."
Said friend Nicola Pecorini: "We joked about [an Oscar nomination]. Heath used to say, ''This time I'm going to give them such a hard time — they'll have to cry to get an interview.'' He knew he'd done something special. But he was saying, 'This time I’m going to lead the dance.'"
Ledger -- who also got a lead acting Oscar nod for 2006's Brokeback Mountain -- has been nominated at every major awards show this year for his role as the Joker. He won a Golden Globe earlier this month.
"It's fantastic", costar Aaron Eckhart told Usmagazine.com after his win. It's wonderful. I couldn't be happier!"

Walk in my shoes

Athletic Shoes
The term "athletic shoes" is a very common and general term for footwear specifically designed for athletic and physical activity. They are they complete opposite of dress shoes, as they are meant to cushion and support the foot during activity that requires constant movement on one's feet.
"Athletic shoes" is a very broad term but they can also be called:
* Tennis shoes
* Running shoes
* Gym shoes
* Sneakers
Some athletic shoe manufacturers are:
* Nike
* Adidas
* Converse
* Pony
* Puma
* New Balance
* Asics
* Reebok
* Filawe
Adidas shoes
Since he first equipped a pair of canvas trainers with spikes in 1920, Adolph "Adi" Dassler, founder of adidas, developed a reputation for cutting-edge designs and his groundbreaking use of new materials and creative ideas in the pursuit of making the best possible track shoes. His reputation would soon extend to making the best sport-specific shoes for other sports as well.
As the 20th century progressed, adidas footwear became a pop culture icon sported by superstars from Muhammad Ali to David Beckham and was name-checked in hit songs by Run DMC and Korn.
Discount athletic shoes are shoes whose original selling prices have been reduced by a certain percentage and are now for sale to the public in a store, on the internet or by auction. Instead of paying ninety dollars for a pair of running shoes from the Nike store, a customer can get the same shoe at an online discount store such as SHOEBACCA.com for a fraction of its original price.
Large shoe manufacturers such as Nike, Puma, New Balance and Asics will often discount their merchandise to make room for new inventory. Often times they will ship the off season shoes to closeout stores such as Nordstrom's Rack in order to make room in their inventory.

Hypothetical Development
"Michael Cera got non-committal in Sundance talking to MTV News about the "Arrested Development" movie, to which every actor has committed, including narrator/producer Ron Howard".
"Speaking to MTV News to promote his Sundance film "Paper Heart" Cera refuted the rumors, saying that he's merely waiting for a script. But that may be a long time coming, claims the actor, labeling the film as "more hypothetical than people think."

Heath Ledger -the untold story
"Heath Ledger had a miserable time on the Brokeback Mountain set - because director Ang Lee treated the late star like an "alienated prop", according to the film's producer James Schamus.
In an Entertainment Weekly magazine tribute piece - marking the first anniversary of Ledger's death - Schamus and British filmmaker Terry Gilliam both recall how difficult the acclaimed film was for the Aussie, who played gay cowboy Ennis Del Mar.
Gilliam recalls his The Brothers Grimm star calling him from the set and revealing he was far from happy.
James Schamus, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Jake Gyllenhaal.
And Schamus explains, "During casting, rehearsals, and pre-production, Ang (Lee) is like the warm, wise, cuddly daddy bear. The minute he yells 'Action' on the first shot, the actors become alienated props he kind of puts up with... It's tough on actors.
"He doesn't yell at people or humiliate them, but it's a very tough space. Heath had very difficult days. You could really feel the pain he was going through". Source: www.imdb.com
Catherine Hardwicke, director, The Lords of Dogtown:
"I heard Heath wanted to do Dogtown, and I was shocked. The real Skip was a pretty funky character. I thought I was going to get Philip Seymour Hoffman. Heath came in to meet me and he was extremely shy. He had his cap pulled down and it was like, could this guy look any more like a homeless person? It's a survival mechanism, to become scruffy, to try to hide, to go against everyone's expectations. He talked to me about Australia and surfing and skateboarding, and I thought, I can't say no".
Schamus: It was one of those ''where were you on the day Kennedy was shot'' moments. I called Jake and remember wailing. Source: www.ew.com

Emile Hirsch (The wanderer)
A video featuring some images and stills of Emile Hirsch in the films "The girl next door", "Lords of Dogtown", "Speed Racer", "Into the wild", "Milk", etc. Songs "The wanderer" and "Rolling home" by Status Quo.
Michael Cera videoclips
A video featuring some images and stills of Michael Cera in "Arrested Development", "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist", etc.
Song "Higher" by Creed. (I didn't choose the song, I just had to replace my soundtrack of choice because youtube won't allow me sometimes uploading some of my favourite songs, so I have to swap the audio tracks if I want to upload my videos).
Talking about Michael Cera,
"Paper Heart" is one of the most talked about films going into Sundance 2009. Charlyne Yi and her real-life boyfriend Michael Cera were able to make the film completely under the radar. I have been able to secure five video clips from the strange meta-love story, in which both of the stars play themselves. Here is the details from the Sundance plot synopsis: “Even though Yi doesn’t believe in love, she bravely embarks on a quest to discover its true nature — a journey that takes on surprising urgency when she meets unlikely fellow traveler, actor Michael Cera.” Watch these five clips from "Paper Hearts"

David Fincher season
"Fincher's résumé charts a dark and fascinating path. From the doomed Alien 3 through surprise blockbuster Se7en to his undervalued masterpieces Fight Club and Zodiac, Fincher has seldom aligned with public taste, but the film world is a more interesting place thanks to him. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, previewed as part of this retrospective with a Fincher Q&A (18 Jan), sees him attempt a proper emotional drama. Whether it works or not is moot; Fincher's failures are more interesting than the successes of most other directors". Source: www.guardian.co.uk

"Canadian actor Michael Cera, who’s built a career out of playing awkward but lovable teens, is up for a rising star award at Britain’s equivalent of the Oscars.
The award recognizes five international actors and actresses that have begun to capture the public’s imagination.
Cera’s rise began with a role as George-Michael Bluth on the celebrated series “Arrested Development”, and soared with starring roles in the films “Juno”, “Superbad” and “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.”The winner will be announced at The Orange British Academy Film Awards on Feb. 8".

Ambidextrous rom-com
"Why 500 Days of Summer is the best movie I've screened this year isn't the cast, made up primarily of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, or the tag line ("A Man Who Believes in Love Falls for a Woman Who Very-Much Doesn't") or even the online chatter falsely describing it as a "musical" (which I think we could always use more of anyway). No, why it's the best has more to do with character than with setup; more feeling than exposition. The creators of the movie, first-timer's all around, understand these people (beyond surfaced who-they-are, what-they-want, and how-they-get-it explanations, which dominate the rom-com genre) and, with an assured look at the dating styles of today, created a movie which comments and condemns the current idea of love, sex, and friendship. Oh, and it's really funny". Source: www.firstshowing.net
"Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel co-star in 500 Days of Summer, what he describes as an "ambidextrous" romantic-comedy. That means it's a good date movie, not just a chick flick".
"Guys want to fall in love as much as girls want to fall in love. They just run into different rules and regulations", Gordon-Levitt says. Source: www.usatoday.com
