Robert Pattinson & Emilie de Ravin Starring In: 'Remember Me' (March 12) Why We're Psyched: It may be difficult for hardcore Twihards to accept Edw... uh, Rob in a passionate relationship with anyone other than Kristen Stewart (who's currently busy with 'The Yellow Handkerchief' and 'The Runaways'), but the rest of us are psyched to see him paired with lovely Aussie de Ravin ('Lost,' 'Brick') -- and playing a mere mortal! -- in this drama about a rebellious New Yorker and the young woman who helps him overcome emotional scars from a family tragedy. Jake Gyllenhaal & Gemma Arterton Starring In: 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' (May 28) Why We're Psyched: This fantastical video-game adaptation about a sixth-century Persian prince who must save the world from a dastardly nobleman is obviously an effects-heavy popcorn movie. That's all well and good, but what we really want to see is said prince (a buff, insanely hot-looking Gyllenhaal) trade quips and, ah, other things with Brit actress Arterton (Bond Girl from 'Quantum of Solace' who will also be seen this year in 'Clash of the Titans'), who plays his plucky -- and gorgeous -- princess companion. Talk about striking visuals...Shia LaBeouf & Carey Mulligan Starring In: 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' (April 23) Why We're Psyched: Twenty-three years after his original 'Wall Street,' Oliver Stone brings us the sequel, once again starring Michael Douglas as corporate raider Gordon Gekko ("greed is good"), now reformed and out of jail. Major icing on the cake: Gekko's protege is engaged to his daughter, played, respectively, by LaBeouf and Best Actress Oscar-nominee Mulligan, two of the most talented young actors around. And the excellent casting has transitioned into real life: the duo are reportedly dating. James Franco & Zooey Deschanel Starring In: 'Your Highness' (Oct. 1) Why We're Psyched: Speaking of genius casting, these two equally attractive, offbeat actors are almost a sure bet, chemistry-wise, in this comic fantasy-adventure about a valiant prince who -- aided by his lazy younger brother (Danny McBride) -- must save both his kingdom and kidnapped fiancee from an evil wizard. From David Gordon Green, director of 'Pineapple Express,' which has us wondering if the new film's title is a double entendre... Jay Baruchel & Alice Eve Starring In: 'She's Out of My League' (March 12) Why We're Psyched: We're so rooting for the splendid Baruchel ('Knocked Up,' 'Tropic Thunder') to get the girl (Eve, 'Crossing Over') in this aptly named rom-com, about an average Joe who meets and romances the woman of his dreams, to the disbelief and discouragement of his family and friends. Love conquers all, right? Ryan Gosling & Kirsten Dunst Starring In: 'All Good Things' (release date TBA) Why We're Psyched: This fascinating-sounding project from Andrew Jarecki, the director who brought us the unsettling doc 'Capturing the Friedmans,' is a love story/murder mystery based on a true unsolved crime. Gosling plays a wealthy heir whose lower-class girlfriend (Dunst) inexplicably disappears. Great leads, great story ... and, yes, there have been rumors of an off-screen romance". Portia de Rossi covers the Advocate, March 2010 issue.
“It was a very difficult dichotomy to live in,” she says now. “Oh, I’m Portia. I’m fresh and new to Hollywood. I just found myself in Ally McBeal. Now I’m in my underwear and sleeping with my boss even though I don’t want to portray women in the workplace that way. All of these things were tearing me apart. Plus—” Her mouth quirks up. “I was gay, did I mention?” Portia de Rossi as Lindsay Bluth Fünke in FOX "Arrested Development" TV series.Michael Cera with Portia de Rossi in "Afternoon Delight", episode 6 from Season 2.
A self-described “staunch feminist,” she was stuck on a show that famously led Time magazine to ask “Is Feminism Dead?” Its leading ladies seemed to shrink in size with every episode, and the only on-set rumor that came close to challenging the popularity of “Does everyone on Ally have an eating disorder?” was “Is that hot blond gay?”
De Rossi is either statue-still or a hummingbird, full of fluttery movement. She plays with her hair, with the rubber band on her wrist, with the sleeves of her sweater. But even when she fidgets, she never appears nervous. Her relaxed, thoughtful attitude is a Los Angeles anomaly. She makes another straightforward “case closed” argument for actors coming out, usual Hollywood scare tactics be damned. “People say, ‘There are lots of openly gay actors.’ And I’m like, who? If everybody I knew that was gay and not being open about it came out, it would make a huge difference to people coming up as young actors in Hollywood.“Being on Oprah was a very surreal moment—to go from being so closeted and so afraid to talk about my sexuality to sitting with my wife, talking about my wedding and how much I love her. To look out at that audience and see most of the audience crying—Oprah was crying! Source: www.advocate.com
