30 Seconds to Mars

Jake Gyllenhaal and Jared Leto in "Highway" (2002), as Jack Hayes and Pilot Kelson.

Jack Hayes: How much longer we a team?
Pilot Kelson: Forever.

Jared and Shannon Leto.

30 Seconds to Mars is Jared Leto's rock band.

Imagine This:

"Jared Leto wins in a landslide election against no opponent because everybody loves him. Three years in, the once republican government becomes an oligarchy as political party The Believers assume all positions of power, and ensure that all Believers not involved in government become the highest class of citizens with the best health care, housing, and privileges. Then, Crash, the Minister Of Propaganda, is kidnapped and tortured, where he reveals the locations of all the extermination camps. The atrocities of this government are finally coming to light, only the most villainous individuals could deny these truths as they are exposed. It is the end of the beginning, by this time, The Believers are centrally located in the UK, and after ensuring minimal losses to their own, with most non-believers in their camps anyway, nuked every other continent and land, leaving even the edge of the earth as a barren wasteland. A few question the methods of this harsh rule.
Street cameras are sabotaged, Echelon officers are missing or dead, no one believes the Ministry Of Information anymore, for no other speakers had the charisma of Crash, The Church Of The Echelon is falling apart, the faiths of Believers shattered by the chaos ensuing around them, and many doctors working at the non-believer extermination camps have committed suicide, out of fear of being caught by Capricorn and being tortured before executed. The day of reckoning has finally come, and freedom is due". Source: thirtysecondstomars.forumsunlimited.com

Prince of Persia in post-production

"Principle Photography in Morocco and London for the live action scenes of the much expected blockbuster Production of Mike Newell and Jerry Bruckheimer's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has wrapped up and began post Production back at the Disney Studios. New Stills and feedback from the Studio give an inside look into one of the most expensive films to be released internationally in the Summer of 2010.
The Film faced several delays due to the Hollywood Screenwriters Strike which halted production and explains why the film's release was postponed to 2010 instead of this year…In March 2004, the production company Jerry Bruckheimer Films sought to acquire feature film rights to the 2003 video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with the film to be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Under John August as executive producer, the series' creator Jordan Mechner was hired to write the script. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer's Pirates of the Caribbean film trilogy served as a touchstone in how a theme park ride was converted into a film franchise. According to Mechner, "Rather than do a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the new videogame, we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story." Mechner previously considered producing an animated film based on the games, but could not resist Disney and Bruckheimer's offer. In February 2006, Disney hired screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff to write a new script for Prince of Persia".

Unlikely heroes

"Richard Kelly's bold debut film is a social satire, a dark comedy, a science fiction time-traveling fantasy, and a suburban nightmare about an extremely intelligent, depressive, self-destructive, narcoleptic, gun-toting, sex-crazed, teenaged arsonist: Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal). But, like GHOST WORLD and RUSHMORE, it uses the trappings of the teen comedy as the entry point for a subversive and trenchant (and also wonderfully entertaining) look at American life. The difference between those films and DONNIE DARKO is that Donnie is an unlikely hero who just might save the world. Donnie falls in love with Gretchen (Jena Malone) and tries to figure out what his life means. Gyllenhaal leads an exceptional cast, bringing Kelly's twisted but humane vision to life. An exceptional performance is given by Mary McDonnell (PASSION FISH) as Donnie's mother".

"It's hard to imagine a more unlikely hero than Elliot Tiber, who wrote the book Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert, and a Life, which has been amusingly adapted by the screenwriter James Schamus.Demetri Martin, replete with a hooked nose and gaunt features, plays Elliot, one of life's unhappy nice guys. H He desperately needs to escape his adolescence and break ties with his overbearing parents, especially his mother (Imelda Staunton). They run a failing motel in White Plains, Woodstock. Ang Lee embraces the clichés, so it's violet dresses for the girls, and long hair and amusing facial hair for the boys – when they're actually wearing clothes, that is.

As Elliot tries to come up with ideas to save the motel and re-invigorate the community, we meet an array of kooky characters: his proud father Jake (Henry Goodman), the mad experimental theatre group leader Devon (Dan Folger), the chocolate milk-making neighbour Max (Eugene Levy)
and the best friend, Billy (Emile Hirsch), a Vietnam veteran who looks like he's just out of his nappy. Lee shows that there were freaks in this town way before the hippies arrived. Elliot's desperation sees him call the producer Michael Lang (Jonathan Groff) when he hears the neighbouring town of Walkill won't licence the concert. And the rest, as they say..."

Looking quite studly in a stylish suit, the "Twilight" hunk has been a staple at the recent Cannes Film Festival festivities".
