Candidates for Jeff Buckley biopic

"As Jeff Buckley fanatics likely already know, a biopic on the late singer-songwriter has been brewing for years.

According to the report, Orian Williams, who produced the biopic Control, about Joy Division’s Ian Curtis, is onboard for the Buckley film, titled Mystery White Boy, as is screenwriter Ryan Jaffe (The Rocker). Jake Gyllenhaal and Jared Leto in "Highway" (2002).
Robert Pattinson and Jared Leto.

The real juice here is that the list of possible actors that may play Buckley, which includes names like Jared Leto, James Franco, Robert Pattinson and James Marsden.

"Whoever gets the part will need a lot of self-discipline because they won't be able to fake it," Guibert said in interview. "It's going to take a phenomenal set of skills."

Guibert also added that she has finally come to terms with the idea of there actually being a biopic done on her late son, saying, "I have finally relented against my deep conviction that films about people should never be made until those people are long dead."

Jake Gyllenhaal or Zac Efron for "Rock of Ages"

"After cutting himself loose from the big-screen remake of Footloose, could Zac Efron be eyeing the Rock of Ages movie? According to the New York Daily News, the High School Musical alum is rumored to be up for the lead in a feature film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical—and he’s supposedly competing with Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal. The Oscar-nominated Gyllenhaal is already attached to another movie musical; he’s reportedly playing Joe Hardy opposite Jim Carrey’s Devil in Craig Zadan and Neil Meron’s Damn Yankees remake. Patrick Wilson’s name has also been bandied about for the role of Stacee Jaxx, currently played by James Carpinello. (Efron and Gyllenhaal would presumably be in line to play the hero Drew, created by Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis.)

The ROA movie will be helmed by the musical’s librettist, Chris D’Arienzo, who directed the upcoming film Barry Munday, starring Wilson".

Pattinson talks about "New Moon" video

"Rob's "Twilight" stars insist that he hasn't changed a bit.

"Rob cracks me up every time I hang out with him," Lutz said. "He's just such a great, easygoing guy."

"[His fame] is always growing," Cam Gigandet added. "But Rob is still Rob — which is a good thing."
"He's the same guy that I met before he was world-famous, which is just a really laid-back, quirky, funny British dude," Welch grinned. "[But his notoriety] is crazy. I don't know how he does it. I'm glad I'm Mike, dude." Source: www.mtv.com

Chemistry in "Twilight" and "The good girl"

"Kristen Stewart sat on Catherine's bed and attempted kissing three different actors. Then Robert Pattinson came over and Kristen met him for the first time. And right after meeting each other, the two shared their first kiss. According to Catherine, "They had to do it three times. The first time, they went a little too far, and I was like, 'I can't show this to anybody at the studio!'" Wow, so Kristen and Robert were perfect for each other from the start". "Kristen, 19, has previously blasted reports she is romantically involved with Robert. She said: “It’s just totally false. Robert and I are good friends. We went through a lot together, so we feel very close. But if we go out in public, every little detail is scrutinized, like the way I stand next to him.

“And it’s like, I know the guy really (expletive) well. It’s only natural that we sort of lean on each other, because we’re put in the most (expletive) psychotic situations.”

“To decide who was going to be Edward, I had chemistry reads over at my house on my bed,” Hardwicke tells Life & Style, “and when it was Rob and Kristen together, you could just tell … this is it.”
Hardwicke says "it’s intense when you do such an intense project. Robert and Kristen are interested in each other, like a fascination.” Source: www.kansascity.com
"I don’t think there is any point in denying what’s going on between New Moon’s, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. This HOT duo is completely inseperable. I don’t think it’s possible to keep the flames down when you are working on such an intense project together.

May 13, they took the next step in their relationship: meeting the parents! Kristen bonded with Rob’s folks, Richard and Clare Pattinson, over Kobe beef meatballs during the actor’s 23rd birthday dinner at Glowbal Grill & Satay Bar in Vancouver".

"Back in 2001, Jen filmed The Good Girl with Jake Gyllenhaal, who at the time was a relative newcomer (his credits at the time included Donnie Darko and Bubble Boy). Not only did they share the screen in the quirky flick, but they shared a love scene, which for both actors marked a first. Jen was notably apprehensive about simulating such a private moment for all to see; she told In Style upon the film’s release that “unless you’re someone who gets off on having people watch you - which I’m certainly not - it’s weird having 40 crew members look at you in such an intimate situation.”
“Jake was as nervous as I was. Finally you just go for it. I couldn’t ask for a better, sweeter person to be devirginized on film with.” For his part, Jake discussed his experience working on the scene: “We had been making out for weeks in other scenes, and this was just some more hip grinding; some more kissing. Jennifer turned to me at one point and said, ‘That wasn’t so hard. I’ve faked it before.’” Throughout the production, he developed something of a protective stance toward his leading lady; he says that at one point, “I remember we were in bed one day, and Miguel Arteta screamed, ‘Stop joking around.’ And I thought, ‘This is Jennifer Aniston, motherf***er. You don’t yell at her.’”
Furthermore, they have continued to show a great deal of respect for each other’s work over the years. In 2005, Jen was on hand at the Hollywood Film Festival to present Jake with a Hollywood Breakthrough Award. Jake Gyllenhaal with Jennifer Aniston when he presented at the 18th annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.

Jake returned the favor, presenting Jen with her GLAAD Vanguard Award. He gave a great presentation speech, citing Jen’s warmth and integrity as traits that he has come to know personally, and upon her arrival onstage he greeted her with a kiss. As Jake himself put it, “Everybody falls in love with Jennifer, and I have to say, it’s always her fault.”

June: Gay & Lesbian Pride Month

"The month of June is Gay & Lesbian Pride Month so in honor of that, we have put together a list of some of the most influential gay films which have helped inspire, educate, and encourage audiences to make a change and support equal rights.
5. Philadelphia (1993) - Philadelphia is a great gay/Aids movie starring Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington and Antonio Banderas. The film tells the story of Andrew Beckett (Hanks), a gay lawyer infected with AIDS who is fired from his law firm because his colleagues fear they might contract AIDs. This film is important because it was one of the first all-star casts, which could pull in big audiences, that tackled the issues of AIDs in the United States, and also introduced a more realistic picture of gays and lesbians. Although the film is about two gay lovers, the AIDs issue in the film was meant for everyone not only the gay, and it was the first time people thought about it that way on film. The film exploited the discrimination that gays and AIDs patients still undergo in our democratic society and began the change towards AIDs no longer with just the homosexual community but in all communities.4. Bad Education (2004) - A stand-out film by Pedro AlmodĂłvar, about two childhood friends who discovered love and cinema as young pupils. The film deals with sexual abuse, trans-sexuality and gender abuse, and it is known for it’s nearly all-male cast and considered one of AlmodĂłvar’s more serious films. The film doesn’t let anyone off the hook especially the Catholic church. It brings awareness to the sexual abuse happening in churches everywhere; from the priest to the young boys that spend there days inside the church.

Overall it holds a powerful message that churches can be just as hypocritical as anyone. It’s better to be a good person than to say you’re a good person, and being gay doesn’t make you either.
3. Fire (1996) - Get’s points for a unique perspective on the gay community. Fire is the first Indian film to explicitly show homosexual relations, and after its release many right-wing Hindu groups violently protested against homosexuality. In the film, two daughters-in-law who were forced to marry into the family on an arranged marriage become lovers. The women go through some hardships, but end up together. Although many critics loved the film calling it “explosive” and “pathbreaking,” many were outraged by the explicit lesbian relationship shown in the film.

There were many protest against the film, but gay activist Ashok Row Kavi criticized the protest as “gay bashing” and argued against lesbianism being against Indian tradition. Director of the film Deepa Mehta said in an interview about the film, “Fire is not a film about lesbians [but rather about] the choices we make in life.”
2. Brokeback Mountain (2005) - Why? Because this film is iconic. Perhaps the issues of homosexuality aren’t in the forefront as they are with some others but Ang Lee’s film consists of some of the finest performances (Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal) and an extremely personal exploration of the pain of hiding who one really is.The thing about Brokeback Mountain is that although it isn’t outwardly about gay rights, it’s about the misery of having to live in secret and denying one’s true self. Instead of taking an activist perspective, it went through the struggles of real people and shows how lying to oneself doesn’t make things better, it destroys lives.

What could inspire more honest activism then a message like that?

Brokeback Mountain made over $170 million worldwide and seemed to be well received by audiences all over.
1. Milk (2008) - Milk is an award winning biopic film about the life of activist and politician Harvey Milk. Milk has received very high acclaim and redefined Queer Cinema. I had never seen a gay film like Milk; most gay films are about two or three characters, but Milk is about the suffrage of an entire people. Although the movement started in Castro it stretched far and wide, and now with the film hopefully Milk’s message can stretch even further especially in a time when it’s needed most. Sadly, we haven’t come that since the 60’s-70’s, in fact some people may even say we’ve taken some steps backwards.

The disappointing thing about this film is that not many people went to see it. In fact, for the most part it was only pro-gay audiences who were already accepting. That being said, this film was not made to persuade people, it was made to move them.
Although Sean Penn and Dustin Lance Black both won Academy Awards for the film it was probably the least well received, which shows that people aren’t ready for change. So what better time than now to let this great film motivate you. You can’t just sit and let things happen, get out there and make a difference like Black is currently doing with the couragecampaign and more!

Milk has made over $53 million so far, and I believe Milk to be a film that deserves a month like June to honor it because it’s currently out fighting to make a difference".
