"Reese Witherspoon is pretty in pink Valentino as she previews her first-ever fragrance — In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon — at Four Seasons Hotel in New York City last week.“It was a unique experience for me because I had no idea what goes into making perfumes,” said the 33-year-old actress. Reese said, “I was really drawn by white flowers to get that sense of a steamy night somewhere in the South. Definitely gardenia is a big thing for me because my father — every Mother’s Day or on my birthday — would buy small bouquets or corsages for my mother and I. And my mother always wore beautiful white-flower perfumes, so as a young girl, that was my idea of femininity. It’s indicative of where I am today. I’m feeling very strong and independent and so happy. The fragrance really captures that feeling — it’s very sensual, very romantic and alluring.”

Trolling through the site, one finds handfuls of eyebrow-raising tidbits—Darren Aronofsky admitting that Ellen Burstyn wasn’t his first choice for Requiem for a Dream, for example, and that the actors he wants regularly turn him down. Or Jim Sheridan telling Portman to her face that she, to some extent, and Jake Gyllenhaal, to a much greater extent, are reluctant to shoot scenes in which they don’t come off as “cool.”

"The two leads, Burt (Jon Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph), are excellent in their portrayals of a young man thrilled he is to become a father and a woman feeling irritable and uncomfortable during her pregnancy. The picture becomes a road flick when the unmarried couple decides to drive across the country to visit relatives and look for a place to live. Another person Verona and Burt visit is LN (Maggie Gyllenhaal), a disliked professor at a Madison, Wisconsin, university. (An aside. In real life, Maggie Gyllenhaal lives with her daughter and husband, Peter Sarsgaard, in the Village, where I live. Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal shopping in Soho, on 6th June, 2009.
