"Although the new trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is breathtaking, there seems no possible way for a studio to avoid watering down the Swedish sadomasochistic snuff noir so it will play in America. In cinema, there is the homage to the past, and there is the wholesale remake or re-imagining of a film.

There are foreign remakes of American films, but most often, foreign films are remade to sync to American sensibilities. Something will undoubtedly get lost in translation. Remaking is not an exact science". Source: www.npr.org

"Robert Pattinson gave Japan Magazine an interview for the July issue and the results, while interesting and informative, are also unintentionally funny.

For example, when asked if it's true he asks his English actor friends to visit him in Los Angeles the mangled answer comes out this way: "Well, some of my friends do visit me from England while they work in LA. Many of the actors have followers just to spend couple of months together or something but my friends are different. They have pride in what they are doing, so I am sure they would say I don't need your support. It's good to have a free hotel room in NY or in LA, but in the middle of nowhere? no thanks."
Huh? The interview does break new ground with questions about how Rob travels (private jets mostly, but when he does fly commercial he puts a blanket over his head and goes to sleep) his dog (saved from a shelter his puppy went from impending death to a private jet... what's with the private jets???) and why there was no sex scene in Water For Elephants (he just laughs it off).
One wonders if Rob was having a little fun or if the skills of the translator just need brushing up. After all, Japan is the country with this sign in a hotel room: YOU ARE INVITED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE CHAMBERMAID. This interview is full of that same kind of well-intentioned hilarity".
