James Dean on the set of "Giant" (1956).Jake Gyllenhaal as gay cowboy Jack Twist in "Brokeback Mountain" (2005).This is a good moment to look back some of my most beloved posts about James Dean & Jake Gyllenhaal: American Rebels, James Byron and Jake, Jimmy and Jakey, etc.
"The trim actor says what has happened to him has been "pure luck." After all, handsome Henry Cavill, who made a dashing impression in TV's The Tudors as Henry's friend, the Duke of Suffolk, had been Twilight author Stephanie Meyer's original choice to play Edward Cullen, the lovelorn vampire who falls in love with the human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).Pattinson also could relax because he has a smaller role in New Moon. This time werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) takes centre stage. In the third movie Eclipse, the two have to jostle over who wins Bella's heart – if she still has one by then.Pattinson seems the most unlikely heart-throb material as he really has grungy tastes and disdain for the high life. But, while he maintains he doesn't like fast cars (his father used to sell them) and that he is single, he was photographed driving a Porsche leaving his co-star Kristen Stewart's house. Maybe they were learning their lines or it could even be a set-up. It wouldn't be the first relationship created to sell a movie. He says he doesn't have a perfect girl, though admits, "she would have to be down-to-earth." So is there a celebrity he's adored? "Um", he stutters, struggling for an answer to yet another trite question. "I like Patricia Arquette in True Romance. She was always my pin-up. I like Linda Blair [from The Exorcist] as well." This generation's James Dean?
"Well, Edward Cullen at least. But we kind of think Robert Pattinson continues to channel James Dean long after Twilight filming is done for the day. Robert Pattinson is definitely following in James Dean's teen heartthrob footsteps. We like to call him the James Dean of this generation".Robert reminds us how much Twilight is like one of James Dean's most popular movies. He says, "Rebel Without a Cause was a big influence on the first [Twilight film] - it influenced the hairdo and stuff... In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump." Source: www.limelife.com
Ladies James Dean T Shirt by American Classics by www.honcho-sfx.com"Being a good actor isn't easy. Being a man is even harder. I want to be both before I'm done." -James Dean, quote about acting.
"[James] Franco studied and admired Dean long before the role came along.
"If I respect (Dean), then I should give him everything that I can," he says.Rydell says he was ready to cancel the project because it was so hard to find someone to play Dean. Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Stephen Dorff were considered for the role as the movie languished at Warner Bros. for seven years. Rydell, who got involved with Dean in early 2000, says Franco was hesitant, but he persuaded the actor to take the role.Franco admits he was afraid he might be typecast forever if he captured Dean too convincingly. "It just took fate and confidence on my side to say, OK, this is one facet of me. Obviously, it's not me. I had to do a lot of research to get it. I am somebody different."
His authentic portrayal already has had a major impact on his career. After watching a snippet of Dean, Robert De Niro tapped Franco to play his drug-addict son in City by the Sea, due out in October". Source: www.usatoday.com
