Jake will be Prince of Persia

"Earlier this year, we told you about the folks at Latino Review revealing that an offer was out to Jake Gyllenhaal to star as the titular prince in PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME, the upcoming Mike Newell directed adaptation of the popular action adventure video game franchise of the same name. Today, the "Hollywood Insider" blog is reporting that Jakey G. has officially signed on as the time-controlling monarch. They've also added that current Brit Bond girl Gemma Arterton will be playing Tamina, a princess who helps the prince in his adventures and who presumably gets a little frisky with him, and that production is scheduled to start in July pending what happens with the looming actors' strike.

Extra Tidbit: The latest game in the series, "Prince of Persia: Prodigy", is scheduled for release in fourth quarter of this year on XBox 360, PS3 and Windows".

The old sweet goofy Indie Prince is far behind, isn't he?
And an exotically handsome, manly one is risin...

But I want Jake to be a huge star and multitudes of gyllenhaalics to invade the world so, I dunno, I'm rather happy, just hope it will be good...:)

Although I'm not too excited about this next project (mostly because I'm not too fond of based on video-games movies -except eXistenZ if it could be considered in that category-, on the other hand I enjoy the movies based on comic books!) anyway Sands of time will be written by the original creator: of the original game and directed by Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) these are good points in its favour :)

Kendra do you know if this is an animated movie? Are we going to see Jake as a cartoon? I hope it is real life like action. A little comedy doesn't hurt either. Jake is very humorous.

As far as I know, Gail, I don't think PoP is going to be animated, I guess it will be real life action, since it will be shooted in Morocco and in studios of England. Let's count on a lot of CGIs and Fx because is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney:
read this interview to Bruckheimer, I prefer Newell over Michael Bay.
